Petroleum Minister launches #Gas4India Campaign

Petroleum Minister launched the #Gas4India campaign in New Delhi on September 6, 2016 to encourage the use of Natural Gas in the country. #Gas4India is a unified cross-country, multimedia, multi-event campaign to communicate the national, social, economic and ecological benefits of using natural gas as the fuel of choice to every citizen who uses, or will use in the near future.

The campaign will focus on engagement via social media platforms and in the form of discussions, workshops and cultural events connecting directly with the consumer. A dedicated website, Twitter handle, Facebook page and Theme song of the campaign were launched at the event.

Addressing the occasion Shri Pradhan said that India is moving towards becoming a Gas based economy and in the near future the share of Gas in Energy sector would be increased above 6.5%. He also announced that GAIL has already finished the tendering process for gas grid and actual process of laying pipelines will begin soon. He added that the government is planning to harness synthetic gas from Coal Bed Methane, and also promoting Bio-CNG and Bio-PNG and 3 New LNG terminals are also in the pipeline. Shri Pradhan also emphasized on the promoting the use of PNG so that people have access to environment and health friendly fuel.
